Ireland: 1 Week Itinerary

I made this departure flight thanks to TSA allowing me through security with 24 individual tequila, Baileys, and rum pocket shots. They were sealed, 3oz, clear bottles packed in a clear plastic bag, pulled out with my toiletries, because loop holes are everywhere and it is my job as a middle child to exploit them.

For my very first trip abroad, I stayed in Dublin for a week with two friends who were also figuring out this whole ‘travel while broke’ thing with me. It was not glamorous: we packed multiple boxes of meal bars so we would only have to buy dinner (and drinks. mostly drinks), wore the same three outfits for a week, and took public transportation everywhere.

My Go-To Travel Planning Tips

This is the shit I find myself saying the most when people ask me how to get ready for a trip, mom. Just read this list, mom. Its also in all the emails I sent you, goddamnit, MOM.

  1. See my 16 Things I Pack Every Time article for gear you should considering assembling in 80’s movie montage style.
  2. Make sure your passport is up to date and check visa/immunization requirements: A US passport will get you into most places without a hitch, but I have never been to Asia, South America, or Africa before and cannot speak from experience there. Maybe you don’t need a visa, but you will need proof of certain shots and immunizations before you are allowed to enter the country.
